This is the the third of four subsections (the second beginning with ἐν ᾧ) of Paul’s sustained praise to God (see comments for Structure on 1:3–6). This subsection focuses on praising God because of the inheritance he promises to his people. ἐν ᾧ καὶ ἐκληρώθημεν This v. transitions to another blessing that believers have in Christ.
